I have just spoken to Nambucca River Sailing Club and they will be hosting the NSW Nacra State Titles at South West Rocks (Trial Bay) on Saturday and Sunday 8-9 March.
More information will be available as I get it (hopefully in the next fortnight) but in the meantime look at www.taipan.asn.au/dates&venues/NOR%20Trial%20Bay%20Mar%20071.doc for last years N.O.R.

After a bit of a ring around today it looks like a record number of 5.8's turning up to sail the N.S.W Nacra States. I'm trying to bring the entire fleet of 7 5.8's from Speers Point (the largest active 5.8 fleet in Australia), 2 from Mannering Park, 5 from the Central West N.S.W, our current 5.8 National Champ from Kurnell, 1 from Port Kembla and Jorgo from Queensland is trying to get 4 - 5 boats as well to attend. That is about 20 5.8's, 4 more than the Nationals.
I have also been working on Glen (Nacra 14m2 #186 Digital Tour Guide) to get some of the other 14m2 from Kurnell to attend as he was a very lonely sailor at the Nationals.
Also hoping to see some F18's too.
Trial Bay Regatta is one of the best weekends on the sailing calender with beautiful beaches, crystal clear water and a top venue at the base of Trial Bay Jail. The Nacra Super Series Presentation will also be held on the Saturday night which involves a bit of drinking and some.
This Regatta shouldn't be missed.

GRACELAND.

Here is some photos from last years State Titles.

That is good news Farmboy, is there any chance of any other 5.8's attending from Victoria?
What is your sail number and what sailing club do you sail out of?

I forgot to mention the N.S.W States is open to all Nacra Classes.

Is there an updated NOR available for this event yet?

Also is there camping available either at the NRSC clubhouse or somewhere close by?

Any accommodation suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Cheers

I can't help with the NOR but it should be posted soon.

Here is the link for Trial bay camping area, only tents and caravans, no cabins.

Hi Barry,

Hopefully there will be some other Nacra F18's for you to race.
How did your centreboard case repairs go?
After going to Trial Bay once you will be hooked and will have to go there every year after.

Regards Steve.

Hi Graceland
The casing repairs are only minor, I'm mainly waiting on the new dagger board to be made.

BCC have been kind enough to loan me a spare dagger board to keep me going until they make the new board, and then slot my boat into their schedule for the hull repairs to be carried out.

Cheers

Barry

But for a street to plug into the GPS, just put in Phillip drive, Arakoon (South West Rocks)

Hi Goose,

I hate to say this but a Queenslander has walk away with the NSW Nacra 5.8 State Title.

17 x 5.8's turned up to sail the states with 1 from Victoria and a couple from Queensland and 3 of them were brand new boats never been in the water with second hand masts.

Three races were held on Saturday with winds from the east to south east @ 6 - 10 knots and 3 races on Sunday with winds 8 - 10 knots with gusts up to 12 knots from the south to south east.

After 6 races and 1 drop the results were,

1st Warren & Mark on 1651 (5 points)

2nd Macca & Greg on 1591 (9 points)

3rd Ian & crew on 1590 (23 points}

4th Tony & Trevor 1559 (24 points)

5th Steve & Brett 1650 (27 points)

5th Rev & Dean 1639 (27 points)

5th Johno & Matt 1606 (27 points)

8th Jorgo & Dan 1649 (29 points)

9th Keith & Barb 1646 (45 points)

10th Robin & Brett 1648 (51 points)

11th John & crew 1351 (52 points)

12th Henk & Spike 1555 (58 points)

13th Allan & crew 1220 (59 points)

14th Dave & Dave 633 (60 points)

15th Ian & Jack 1340 (62 points)

16th Mitch & crew 644 (74 points)

16th Josh & Erin 628 (74 points)

I'm hoping to get photos and result sheets posted here in the next few days.

There were also 5 -4.5 s at the regatta.

We had a great weekend and would like to thank NSW assocation for running the event.
Us Queensland,s will be back next year with more friends to hopefully take title again.
Maybe Dave Jorgenson will win one finally.

It was really great to see so many 5.8s together again.

Lets see and try and see heaps of 5.8s at the nationals in WA.
The new boat was sold to WA,SO 5.8S ARE ON THE WAY BACK.
