NOTICE OF RACE
TAIPAN CATAMARAN
QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Saturday 29th April – Monday 1st May 2006

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS) invites sailors of Taipan and Capricorn catamaran classes to the Taipan Catamaran Queensland Championships to be sailed between the 29th April and 1st May 2006 at RQYS, Manly, Queensland.

1. Rules
The regatta will be governed by the current rules as defined in the I.S.A.F. Racing Rules of Sailing, 2004-2007, the special regulations of the AYF, (Special Regulations, Part 2,) the Championship Rules of the Taipan and Capricorn F18 Classes, (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions) and by the sailing instructions.
Series will be classed as Category C for advertising.
2. Eligibility and Entry
2.1 The regatta is open to boats of the Taipan and Capricorn catamaran classes that have current measurement certificates and whose skipper or crew are financial members of a sailing club and the respective Taipan / Capricorn Catamaran Associations of Australia, and proof of current financial membership is required at registration.
2.2 Eligible boats shall enter on the attached Entry Form, which shall be lodged accompanied by the required fee in cash (see Item 3) with Taipan organisers at RQYS prior to 1030 hours on Saturday 29th April 2006.
2.3 Late entries after 1030 hours on 29th April 2006 will not be accepted.
2.4 Taipan 5.7 competitors are required to nominate their sail configuration, to be fixed for the entire regatta, on the entry form. Those Taipan 5.7 competitors, who nominate a spinnaker, shall be handicapped relative to those Taipan 5.7 competitors, who do not nominate a spinnaker, in accordance with the current VYC yardstick spinnaker adjustment.
2.5 Capricorns will sail with the Taipan Classes in a combined start and receive a separate result to the 4.9 Cat Rigged, 4.9 Sloop and 5.7 Classes.
2.6 All boats shall have public liability insurance to the value of at least
$5 million (insurance certificates must be presented at registration).
3. Fees
• Taipan 5.7 $70
• Taipan 4.9 sloop $70
• Taipan 4.9 cat $70
• Capricorn $70

4. Schedule of Events
4.1 Registration – Saturday 29th April 2006, at RQYS between 0930 and 1030 hours.
4.2 Races:
Race Day & Date Time of Warning Signal not before
1 Saturday 29th April 1300 hours.
2 Saturday 29th April Back to back with Heat 1.
3 Sunday 30th April 1300 hours.
4 Sunday 30th April Back to back with Heat 3.
5 Monday 1st May 1130 hours
6 Monday 1st May Back to back with Heat 5.

Presentation Monday 1st May Time to be advised

Races not sailed as scheduled may be rescheduled at a time to be determined in an attempt to conclude the series on 1st May 2006.
5. Measurements
Each boat shall comply with valid measurements or ratings as required by the respective class rules for Taipans and Capricorns.
6. Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions will be available at registration on Saturday 29th April 2006.
7. Regatta Site
The regatta site is the RQYS.
8. Racing Area
The racing area will be to the North East of the RQYS and will be detailed at the briefing.
9. Courses
The course will be a Windward, Return Course of three laps as described in the sailing instructions.
10. Scoring
The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A.4.1 will apply.
11. Radio Communications
A boat shall neither make nor receive radio transmissions, including mobile telephones, which would contravene Rule 41 while racing.
12. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the first three place getters in each Division where there are five boats or more, otherwise first place only.

I hereby indemnify and hold blameless the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, their members, officers, or agents, the F18 Association, their members, officers, or agents, the Taipan Catamaran Association of Australia Inc., their members, officers or agents from all claims, costs and demands whatsoever and howsoever arising from the acceptance of this entry and the participation of myself and my crew whether it be for personal injury or damage to boat and equipment and whether during rescue operations or otherwise.
