hi Guys, I am looking at getting into cats after a number of years sailing larger tri's. I love the idea of fleet racing and want my kids to eventually crew with me, but also want to be able to sail one up. So I am thinking along the lines of a T4.9. I am Brisbane based and looking at the fleet results around SEQ there doesn't seem to be many Taipans around. Cleveland is full of Nacras, RQ has Hobie 16's and Humpybong seems to have A Class. What are your suggestions to get into a good fleet.

You can try RQYS or Humpybong.I sail at RQYS and there are three other Taipans but they do not sail very regularly. I am usually sailing against Hobie 16s. There is a winter series commencing this weekend that I have registered for and I have convinced on of the Humpybong members to come along too. Matt Homan is the QLD Taipan association rep and he is based at Humpybong. Brad AUS085
PS. There are a couple of Taipans out at Lake Samsonvale, but I don't recall seeing them at other club events. [This message has been edited by CleverNickname (edited 13 May 2009).]

Thanks Brad, I might wander down to RQ to see what the fleet is like.
