  1. Moreton Bay Sailing

Mate today would have been unbelievable but I couldn't do it. Looks like we're gonna head home sooner than planned now too... In totally bummed that yesterday sucked so much. I'm actually heading south tomorrow. I'd be mega keen to do a run from down there if the weathers good. And if you want to plan a bribie trip one weekend I'd come up either with my boat or without for a day on the bay so let me know.

Could have dropped a million dollar cheque at bribie today, the wind would not have blown it away. Boat stayed on the trailer. Sorry to hijack this thread... Hoped I would have pics to add!

Mrs wants to do Bribie island so we'll sail up there. Any takers?
  5. Moreton Bay Sailing

Just my caper cat Matt I don't know if I can rig on the trailer... Might be ok if I have my wife to help. I'm not sure what day I'm going to go yet, not today now, Mrs wants to go to south bank. So any day in the next 4 or so, if anyone else is keen I'll work around them.

Thanks guys. Think south might be the go. I usually use a boat ramp, is there one at Victoria point where I can float the boat off the trailer then rig it on the bank? It's heavier tHan a hobie so dragging it around is not easy. I like the idea of island hopping especially if I take the missus for a sail. I did see some larger boats sailing out of the rich houses and canals at Newport today. Lucky bastards! One day....

I'm staying at deception bay for a week! Got the cat, anyone wanna do a moreton bay day? Or at least suggest a good place to put the boat in?
  8. Hinged step for Caper Cat

Id love to see pics of this
  9. Great reply, thanks!   I'll start with 60 and work from there (if I use them, i try to feel these things, never had a indicator before)   I think i'll give the front beam a try and see how it goes. It may have to be off-centre but i think it will still be visible from both sides
  10. fractional loop rigged. Unsure whether it was worth mounting up on the mast above the hounds but expect the mast itself to interfere with wind from some directions. My Caper Cat has a beam from bow to bow so I think there would be best althoug I need to avoid fouling the jib bridle and also, that's a low position so not sure if best.   Ref arms may or may not be useful, i thought i'd see what others did. When you say 'we' do yo mean cat sailors in general?   Also would you agree 30deg to wind is a big ask for a cat with no daggers?
  11. Just finally got a wind indicator. Where best to position it and what angles should I set the reference arms? The box says 60deg but there is no way my boat can point as high as 30deg so I was thinking I should set them wider?
  12. I actually quite like the 16.... Now that I know it has stowage lockers. I have never seen one up close. My caper suffers upwind from having spade rudders and no dagger boards. The hulls arent quite as knife like as other small cats 16 might be a bit better from the sounds of it
  13. Im hopeful i'll be there with my caper cat
  14. A caper cat is a calypso. That is, they were made by calypso. And yes its the right one for surf and camping... I have one.
