    Hobie 14 main on a Hobie 16

Thanks Peter. I don't suppose you know the length of the strop needed ?
  2. Will a Hobie 14 main fit a Hobie 16 ? Are there any likely difficulties ? As soon as my son is old enough I'd like to take him out as safely as possible.
  3. Local Councils are attempting to ban boat trailer parking on residential streets. The reason is claimed to be "safety", "blocking vision" etc. Parked boat trailers are no more dangerous than parked trucks, vans, SUVs. Local Councils are making a joint approach to the State Government. All boat owners should be making efforts to counter this.

    Reefing a Hobie 16

Very good advice. Thank you Peter and Darcy.

    Reefing a Hobie 16

Thanks Darcy. When the main is sheeted, I assumed that less tension on the cunningham should be used, to reduce stress on the reefing eyelets. Is this correct ?

    Reefing a Hobie 16

Ferrules on main halyard Is it essential to have the second ferrule on the main halyard, when reefing a Hobie 16 ? That is, are there any problems in just hoisting the main as far as possible and tying it off, without locking it off ?

Hobie 16 and 14' cat parts.

Hi Darcy. I've sent you a message with my email. Do you have any photos please ? Is there any damage to the sail ? Are the battens OK ?

    Reefing a Hobie 16

Seems a great club Andrew, but we don't sail enough to make it worthwhile. I just want to slow our 16 down to make it safer for kids.

Do you have a Hobie 16 reefable main ?

    Hobie 16 Serial Number(s)

Thanks VI, I did a search on the US forum and came up with these: ================ I have a 1998 Hobie 16, sail #102668, so I would say it's a 1997/1998 sail. ================== I agree--my sail # is 102266 and the boat is a 1998 ================== I had one in 2001 that was 104's ================== ... which puts the boat at about 1998-1999 It looks as though there has been a major problem with one of the hulls requiring the replacement of one hull ... possibly the B12913 which may have been the replacement in 2002+.

    Hobie 16 Serial Number(s)

Thanks VI, The sail number is 102840 ... I assume that's older than 6 years ? Is it usual to have hulls with different serial numbers ? Aluminium is black anodised. It looks like it may have the jib track. Not sure what you mean by "pintels" ?
