Hi everyone, My boyfriend and I have just bought a cheap & cheerie windrush 14. We've got a bit of sailing experience but not with cat's! Wondering if anyone knows a club we can join (we are in Mile End in Adelaide), which might have a few guys around who can help us set it up the first time and give us some pointers! We've been dying to take it out but can't quite figure the rigging etc... Thanks in advance!

Hey all, So this may have already been covered somewhere else on this forum, being a Car forum I'm gonna assume so however I'll ask again anyway. I'm new to this forum but not new to sailing, I've sailed big Monos and small Monos aswell as big cats and little cats however never have I used a Trapeze and Harness setup. Now the proud owner of a little W14 it comes with Trap and Harness, so I thought I'd consult the interwebs on hiking out on a trap wire before I go and do anything too special, my questions are this, is there any technique or anything I should know before giving it a go? Or is it simply act and react to the boat and wind? Does technique come naturally in the sense of it all? I am a bit big for a W14, being a 110kg bloke, however this is just my toy for the inlet, something I can manipulate and right on my own.

Hello everyone. So, I bought an old windrush 14 and I'm having real trouble trying to set it up. I have read the manual, but, I don't really understand the terminology, and it seems that the manual has a load of stuff I don't. The first real issue that I have is the mast setup. It seems like there are two side stays, and a forward stay (headsail) that keep the mast up, but when I put it up the mast leans forward about 25 degrees. I can loosen the fore stay and use the main sheet (? the sheet from the back of the boom to the traveller?) to bring the mast up straight (which also brings to boom to horizontal), but then I have loads of slack in the side stays and on the one time I took it sailing the mast moved around alot and I was really worried that the force of the mast was going to put the side stays out. Is there a windrush association in Melbourne? Or is there somewhere I can take it for some help? I'm am dying to take her out sailing. Thanks Jacob
